Youth winter lock in

The PFC Youth Winter Lock In was a great success! With over 180 youth attending, from Parsons area to Emporia and over 20 adult chaperones - it was an amazing event for all!

From tacos to pizza to biscuits and gravy, from coca cola to pepsi, dr pepper to mountain dew, slim jims, chips, cotton candy, hot pockets and ice cream - enough food to send anyone to porcelain throne a hurling!

Activities included all the gaming systems one could try their hand at. Bungee run, jousting and boxing were a major hit too. Balloon art, computers, karaoke, movies, crafts and contests kept many entertained as well. Sports seemed to be a great choice for the competitors both youth and adults.

Its been said it takes a village to raise a child, I would add that it also takes a village to put on an amazing, entertaining, food-packed, memorable youth lock in!!

Kudos to all who volunteered their talents and time- whether you spent a few hours or pulled an all nighter Thank you to the parents for allowing us to be a part of your youths world for one night, giving them a positive opportunity to interact with their peers in an all night fashion. Thank you Pastor Steve for allowing us to come and take over the church for the night! And let's not forget Pastor Barry and his rockin' clean up crew, who came in after us and restored all things back to new!

My personal shout out (and I'm sure many will agree) goes to Pastor David Keaton, what an encouraging, energetic, exciting, and entertaining Youth Pastor you are!! And let's not forget your comrades, such as Pastor Greg, Pastor Tricia and many others who came together to create a FANTABULOUS lock in!!

Peace- and I'm already looking forward to the next opportunity!!!

I took these girls out for a morning and we had fun playing and capturing some great images for their birthday session. Everything was a surprise to mom and dad, as I showed up, picked up the girls and only said we would be back in a couple of hours....

So when mom saw the images captured - she cried (** I love this**) and so did the oldest child who was in the images....

the girls were great.

the images were perfect.

I know it's been a tremendously long time since I last posted here. I have sooo many sessions to preview and will try to get on top of them over the next few weeks...

I could give 1000 excuses as to why there haven't been posts, but truth is it's life. I am but ONE woman. Trying to raise a family, keep up a home, run a studio and at some point, find time for a shower. :)
If anyone knows me they know me to be real. I'm going to do my best to keep up on blogging and in the meantime, I hope you enjoy!

Here are some images from the Girl Scouts dress up Portrait Party we had at the studio. The girls from the Daisy troop and the Brownie troop were a blast! "Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing." (Gen. 12:1,2 KJV)

As children of God, we are part of the covenant of Abraham. It is God's will to bless us. But, an important condition to the blessing promised to Abraham was that he would not only be blessed, but that he also would be a blessing till all families of the earth are blessed.

I pray that each of you will be a blessing to someone in your days of 2010 - and reap the blessings that are in store for you and your families!

{A New Year - A New Path}
As always a new year brings a new plan - at least it does for me....I have to think about where I have been - what worked what didn't, and where I want to be.

You have to have a plan.

I am making several updates & changes to the blog & the website over the next few weeks, to get both up to speed with the news and changes at Selah Studios.
I am also on a mission to get new images from all of our recent sessions that were not previewed to the public during the holiday season, on both our website and our blog.

This past year has been overall an amazing walk of faith. From the planning to the opening to the first holiday season at the studio - it all was amazing ! Although not all of it was pleasant - it was on PURPOSE - which has been a part of my faith walk for 2009 - Everything has a purpose - whether or not it makes sense - Everything has a PURPOSE - Accept it as truth and what is to be.... and that sums up our 2009. All of it was on PURPOSE - one greater than I can imagine....

to that......

Thank YOU for all the support and relationships that were created with Selah Studios.

So after the past couple of months, which always has been very demanding time of year - working extremely long hours and usually 7 day work weeks- I was ready for some 'down time' with the family. I spent most of the Christmas break hanging out with family and friends. And to be quite honest - I left the camera down for the most of it....My family (and friends) live with me constantly putting a camera to my eye - I wanted to enjoy the moments and capture them in my mind.

We had a blessed Christmas, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, with family and friends, as well as New Years that was also enjoyable as we celebrated with family and friends a path of new beginnings.

And now the New Year is here & I am starting to get focused now on laying the foundation for 2010 and working on sharing all the new work I created over these past couple of months, as well as previewing what's in store for 2010!

So with all of that - here's to a great year with all things having PURPOSE and Blessings to each of you - I hope our paths cross soon!

A friend from a past workplace contacted me about photographing her son's senior year pics, of course I said YES!
We started out a little behind schedule for his Senior shoot on a Friday night but made up for time by adding in the next morning!
We had a few laughs and {almost} got kicked off of someone's property - Sorry Mr. T - will call next time! Either way - we had a good time and got some awesome shots for his Senior portfolio! Enjoy the proofs and we'll be in touch soon!

However, the light was good and so was the weather! Ok - so maybe I have taken my baby on a few portrait sessions with me.
So much, that she knows the terms :: catch lights, sad smile, hair light, bright eyes, etc::
She's 6.
And has been in front of the camera all of those years and {LOVES} it.
She has been following me on shoots now for a couple of years and has began to take a {real} interest in learning how to take pictures herself. (and isn't too bad - if I do say so!)

Anyway::

Well she wanted to be apart of the Miss Princess Contest our community is hosting this holiday season. And she {her words not mine!} just couldn't have any ordinary snapshot for her entry form. So we set out on a Sunday afternoon and had us a little session.
She is such a natural and so darn cute! {of course I am bias} - it's my Roo Baby!
